CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

The Springwood School Christmas Program, which involves Grades K4-12 will be held on Tuesday, December 10 at 6:00pm in the Fine Arts Center. The High School Chorus and Band will perform along with the Elementary grades’ performance of “The Greatest Christmas Pageant Ever”.


JUNIOR HIGH AND HIGH SCHOOL EXAMS

  • Review for exams are completed by Thursday December 12
  • There are no exemptions from exams in the first semester
  • All students Grades 7-12 are required to take semester exams at the posted scheduled times
  • Students will remain in the exam room until dismissed (a minimum of 1 hour)
  • Dress code is in effect on exam days
  • There is no morning break on exam days

KINDERGARTEN AND ELEMENTARY SCHEDULE

The Kindergarten and Elementary Student End of Semester Schedule will be as follows:

  • Grades K4-6 will follow their regular schedules through Monday December 16th
  • Tuesday December 17th
    • Lunch will not be served
    • Grades K-1 will dismiss at 11:15
    • Grades 2-6 will dismiss at 11:30
    • Students staying for After School Care will need to bring their own lunch and drink

END OF SEMESTER ACCOUNTS

All school financial accounts need to be settled by Monday, December 9th for students to be able to take their exams. That means all

  • Tuition
  • Lunchroom charges
  • Library fees
  • Unreturned athletic equipment
  • Any and all outstanding financial commitments must be paid in full no later than the end of the school day on December 9

No Junior High or High School Students will be permitted to take end of semester exams or receive a report card unless all the financial obligations to the school have been met.


CAN-A-THON

 

 

Grades 7-12:  Thanksgiving donations to Christian Service Center-1060 cans. Keep those cans coming for the December 12th pick-up.

Make sure to get your tickets to our Annual Thanksgiving Meal.  Enjoy time with your child(ren) or grandchild(ren).  The meal times are as follows:

The AISA District Spelling Bee was held on Wednesday, November 13 at Edgewood Academy.  We are very proud of our students who worked so hard. Congratulations to the following winners:

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

Springwood students have been collecting items for Samaritan’s PurseOperation Christmas Child” for many years.  Wednesday at Sessions, students packed 84 shoe boxes full of toys and other items for children in need all across the world. Thank you to all supported this project.

LOCAL VETERANS HONORED

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Local Veterans were honored yesterday at Springwood School. Springwood proudly supports our Veterans and is truly grateful for all the sacrifices they have made for our Country. Springwood Band and Choral students performed and Murphy Wood, USAR gave today’s Veterans Day Address along with A Visual Tour of Veterans Day. Thank you to all the Veterans and spouses who attended!!

THEATRE DEPARTMENT DOES WELL AT TRUMBAUER

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Springwood School’s Theatre Society participated in the District Trumbauer Festival at Opelika High School. Springwood performed GodSpell Jr, a musical written by John-Michael Tebelak that reflects the life of Jesus using a variety of theatrical performance styles. The Springwood Theatre Society earned a total of seventeen medals for their performance.
“Excellent” Scores in their respective categories were received by Taylen Ly and Brittany McDaniel (Solo Musical Female Dramatic Varsity); David Le (Solo Musical Male Dramatic Novice); Brady Spradlin (Solo Acting Classical Dramatic Varsity); Mary Beth Brown and David Le (Duet Musical Comedic Novice); Anna Smith (Costume Design); Sara Choi and Anna Duong (Scene Design).
Earning “Superior” scores in their respective categories and advancing to the State Trumbauer Festival are Michelle Chen (Costume Design); Garner Dorminy (Solo Musical Male Comedic Novice); J. P. Moore (Solo Acting Classical Dramatic Novice); Garner Dorminy (Solo Acting Male Contemporary Comedic Novice).; James Dorminy and Will Langley (Solo Acting Male Contemporary Dramatic Novice); Hallie Miller (Solo Musical Female Dramatic Varsity).
The State Trumbauer Festival will be held at Troy University beginning on December 5, 2019.

SPRINGWOOD PLACED IN THE VALLEY ARTS COUNCIL’S “AUTUMN LEAVES ART SHOW”

Springwood School participated in the Valley Arts Council’s “Autumn Leaves Art Show” at the Valley Community Center on November 2-3rd. Springwood’s Art Department Head, Mary Volrath, and Pre-K and Kindergarten art teacher, Delaine Horne, submitted students’ art work to the show. Students were able to enter the categories of drawing, painting, mixed media, photography, sculpture, and pottery.

Receiving Blue Ribbons, signifying “superior quality, first-rate in age group” were Aubree Brown, Cameron Carey, Landon Carey, Khrystyna Kryvenko, Idania Lanier, and Natalie Wolf.

Receiving the Best in Show awards were Khrystyna Kryvenko for 9th- 12th Grade Drawing, Natalie Wolfe for 6th – 8th Grade Photography, and Idania Lanier for 3rd-5th Grade Sculpture.

Red Ribbons, signifying “very good quality, excellent work” were received by Ashlea Fuller, Francesco Lim, Jessilyn Mabrey, Reid Mullican, Sofia Shrewsbury, and Ellie Wolfe.

Receiving White Ribbons, signifying “runner up, worthy of recognition” were Caroline Altman, Nate Grubbs, Caitlyn Harris, Emily Jo Matthews, and Kenly Yeager.

Earning the distinction “selected to represent his/her school at the Area- Wide show” were Karter Bernal, Athena Chen, Soyeon Choi, Maddie Cooper, Anna Duong, Grace Easterwood, Madisyn Gibbons, Tanner Hill, Kate Huguley, Anna Johnson, Awbrey Johnson, Jonah Meacham, Lily Roberts, Bella Ryeo, Emma Smith, and Dalton Teague.
